Wow. I really missed out on the entire Summer. Taking Summer classes is no easy feat, particularly when some of them are online. 16 weeks of coursework condensed into 11 weeks. But, today is my very last final for my Summer classes, so I’m completely stoked! (And yes, I should be studying but I know when to say when and give myself a much needed break.)
It’s been a very busy Summer session. Along with courses on campus, KCC has also had OAR (Orientation, Advising and Registration) Sessions running almost continuously. This is for all first-time KCC students and gives them the opportunity to meet on campus with their advisor, get to hear and see more about the campus, pick their classes, talk with Financial Aid, etc. It’s a wonderful opportunity to really get the jitters out of the way and get to know about KCC first-hand, in a very laid-back environment. As a Student Ambassador, I really enjoyed getting to meet the new crop of students, some right out of high-school and some coming back to school for a second (or third) career after raising their families.
That’s just one of the many things I enjoy about being out here at KCC. The opportunities to meet people, make friends, make connections–they’re endless, literally. Unlike some of the larger, 4-year colleges out there, KCC really is a community. If you need help, it’s right there for the asking. I know, this is sounding more like a Recruitment blog, but it’s not. It’s just a post, by a student, who happens to think that anyone who chose KCC made the best decision they could have made regarding their education. Transferring? That’s great, but you still did a great thing by yourself by coming to KCC.
My bottom line? KCC is a great place to be, and I can’t wait for Fall courses to start up. (Yeah, I know, I’m a complete and total nut-job but you already knew that!) *grin*
